How to fix the issue where the Message Waiting Indicator light on desk phones stays on after deleting messages from the mailbox


 

Background

A flashing Message Waiting Indicator (MWI) light indicates that a new voice message is waiting. This light turns off after listening to the message or after deleting the message via the RingCentral Online Account.

 

Problem

The Message Waiting Indicator (MWI) light on the desk phone remains on even after all new messages have been deleted from the mailbox on the RingCentral Online account.


 

Solution

1. Leave a new voice message so it is the ONLY new message in the mailbox.

2. Log into the mailbox from the desk phone or the RingCentral Desktop app and delete the message after listening to it. The MWI light should turn off.

 

Status

RingCentral is currently working on potential solutions to this issue. This issue is being tracked on JIRA RC-58072.
