SummaryThe article will provide a step by step guide on how to record an extension's User name.
Details

RingCentral reads the First and Last Name saved in an extension's User Details as part of the default User Greeting or Voicemail Greeting. This can be customized with the help of the Record User Name option which can be found on the General tab in the User Details section. This option ensures that a User's name is correctly pronounced by the system.

Use RingCentral text-to-speech to create a phonetic spelling of the User's name so the system can pronounce it correctly and be used for announcements. Use Record my name to create a recording by following the prompts on the phone, or by recording it straight from your computer microphone, or by uploading a .wav or .mp3 file.

NOTE: Recommended audio formats include the following:

• CCITT u-Law (G711a), 8kHz, 8 bit, mono
• PCM, 8kHz, 16 bit, mono

NOTE: Administrators should log in to the RingCentral Online account then go to My Extension in order to modify his own extension's settings.

IMPORTANT: Only Super Admins, User Admins, and Users with Billing Admin access can view and make changes to this section. See User Roles and Permissions for more information.

The Administrator should log in to the RingCentral Online account then go to the Users section on the Admin Portal in order to modify the Users' settings.

Follow the steps below to learn how to set how a User's name should be pronounced by the RingCentral system.

Customizing another extension's User Name

1. On the User list > Users With Extensions tab, double click the User's name.

2. Click User Details.

3. On the General tab, click Edit below Record User Name.

4. Make sure Record by is set to RingCentral text-to-speech. Enter your name in the text field below Greeting Name.

NOTE: You need to spell out the name the way it sounds to help the system pronounce it correctly. For example, you can enter "Debbie Smith one oh one"  so the system will mention Debbie Smith 101.

5. Click Save.
